SoundWaves gave out three college scholarships as part of Carver Center's Scholarship Night on May 20, 2026. We proudly announce that the recipients of the third annual SoundWaves Musicianship Award were Jacob Gordillo, Diego Vega, and Jazlyn Flores. The SoundWaves Musicianship Award celebrates high school seniors who exhibit enthusiasm, creativity and hard work. We wish them all the best as they continue to pursue their passion and dreams.
Four of our students had the unforgettable opportunity to perform on stage with legendary rock band Foreigner at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY on December 3 and 4, 2025. Shoutout to Cielo, Kevin, Christopher and Diego as they sang the classic " I Want To Know What Love Is" along with other members of the PCHS Port Chester Sound.
Congratulations to Cielo, Austin, Sebastian, Christopher, Connor, Angel, and Andy! These young musicians continue to show commitment and passion in Port Chester High School's Winter Percussion, Color Guard, and Jazz Band Ensemble for SY 2025-2026.
As part of The Carver Center's Scholarship Awards on May 16, 2025, SoundWaves awarded college scholarships to three deserving high school seniors. We proudly announce that the recipients of the second annual SoundWaves Musicianship Award were Justin Suquilanda, Mike Maurad, and Camilo Mamani (not pictured). Justin and Mike are both dedicated students of SoundWaves for the past four years and consistently show growth, passion and commitment to their musical journey. We wish them luck as they head off to college!

Great job to our students Sebastian, Cielo and Diego for their incredible work as part of the cast, crew and pit orchestra at the Port Chester High School Drama Club's musical production of The Addams Family held on March 27-30, 2025 at the PCHS Auditorium.
The Rock N' Roll Playhouse Band introduced SoundWaves students and their families to the music of soul icon Aretha Franklin. It was an afternoon of music, dancing and parachute play (for the little ones) at Garcia's of The Capitol Theatre in downtown Port Chester on January 14, 2022.
Mike Maurad was the piano accompanist of the Port Chester High School concert choir at the PCHS winter concert on December 14, 2022 at the PCHS Auditorium.
Congratulations to Michael and Sebastian for making it to the Port Chester Middle School Jazz Band for SY 22-23!
Derek Delisle is SoundWaves' new creative director. Inspired by heroes like Elvis Presley, Queen and The Beatles, Derek began studying music formally at the age of 10. He learned saxophone at age 12, followed by piano, and finally settling on guitar at age 14. He has a degree in guitar performance from SUNY Schenectady County Community College. After college, Derek played in several original rock bands and taught guitar and piano professionally for 15 years before he joined SoundWaves. Derek lives in Yorktown Heights, NY with his wife and 2 daughters.
